In the end, the duo dies in the deadly fire that breaks out in the lightly fortified Targaryen castle of Summerhall in 259 AC. While hedge knights are often seen as untrustworthy people, Dunk rises through the ranks and becomes the Lord Commander of Aegon V's Kingsguard. The fourth son of Maekar I, King Aegon V aka "Aegon the Unlikely" has a troublesome reign. It will be written and executive produced by Martin and House of the Dragon producer Ira Parker and executive produced by Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis.Aegon V ascends the Iron Throne in 233 AC after a Great Council bypasses candidates earlier in the line of succession, and after his elder brother, Maester Aemon (seen on Game of Thrones) abdicates his rights to the throne. This is the second prequel series to be picked up by Max, after last year’s House of the Dragon. A collection of the three novellas, with illustrations by Gary Gianni, was published as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in 2015. There are novellas that have been published including The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword(2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010). Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” The official synopsis reads: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. The stories are set 90 years prior to the events of A Song of Ice and Fire. The stories follow the adventures of the hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall, who would become a legendary member of the Kingsguard, and his squire Egg, who would become King Aegon V Targaryen of Westeros.

This is going to make for a very interesting series, and I was hoping that it would get made! Martin’s book Tales of Dunk and Egg, which is a series of fantasy novellas.
